In America, the early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the category of child prodigies. This was a natural trait for an Irish-born child surrounded by gifted parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen came to this loving sanctuary on August 17th, 1920. Her family was her parents and family members. Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons was her mom. She was an accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons was 2nd in the family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this stunning group. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as a kid and was very proficient in them. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. This is why she received almost all of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances within her own country. At the age of 14, she joined the Abbey Theater to follow her aspirations and pursue studies in operatic and classical vocals.
